Volkswagen Polo’s India Price out on February 23

The Volkswagen Polo is finally all-set to hit the roads in February. The price which has been a closely guarded secret will also be announced on February 23. VW has been working aggressively on localisation to price the Polo competitively so you can expect the base Polo to start at around Rs 4.5 lakh.

There will be three engine options available, but the first one to hit the showrooms will be the 1.2-litre 75bhp petrol. The other two engines – 1.2-litre 75bhp diesel and a 1.6-litre 104bhp petrol will follow shortly. The Polo promises to bring class leading levels of quality and comfort to the segment and will be available across three trim levels – Trendline, Comfortline and the Highline.

Skoda Fabia to have Cheaper Variants, No plans to launch NSF Cars in India

Skoda Auto, part of the Volkswagen group is expected to change the market positioning of its premium hatch, Fabia by introducing its cheaper variants ahead of the launch of Volkswagen's Polo in India. The Czech car brand is expected to cut Fabia’s price by reducing some features in April when it will come out with a new Bharat Stage IV compliant engine.

Acc to the company -

“We will not reposition the entire range and we will introduce new models across the range. There is enough room for the Passat and the Jetta (VW models) and the Superb and the Laura (Skoda).”

However, Skoda said that it will not introduce the new small family (NSF) cars it is working on, in India, This is a category called A Zero Zero in Europe and refers to cars such as the Maruti 800.

Secret New Cars has posted renderings of the upcoming VW Polo sedan. Reports claim it will be displayed at the Delhi Auto Expo in January 2010.

The Polo sedan will be designed to offer comfort to the rear passengers with a softer suspension and extra legroom generated due to the extended wheelbase. Engine options are expected to remain the same as the hatchback. VW might add one or two more powerful engines on the sedan, but that again is speculation.

The Polo sedan could be introduced in India later in 2010. It will also be sold in Europe & America.

Volkswagen Polo in India early next year, Priced at Rs. 4.25 lakhs

The Volkswagen Polo is scheduled to be launched in India early next year & We've finally got some info on how the car would look like.

Engine/Transmission
The Polo for India is likely to be offered with two petrol engines and one diesel engine right from when it is launched in early 2010. Further, in addition to the manual transmission, the Polo will also come with an automatic transmission option.

Price of the Polo
The car will be priced at about Rs 4.25 lakhs, with the company trying hard to keep the costs down.

Notch Car based on the Polo
The company is also working on a notch car which will be based on the polo. The all-new notch based on the Polo will be developed and manufactured exclusively for the Indian market. It will be longer, wider and offer more legroom than the Polo and may also carry a different name tag. Being specially designed for the Indian market, the notch car will be tuned to offer better ride quality and comfort for rear passengers. The direction and market positioning of the notch car will be different compared with the Polo.
