Hyundai expected to launch revamped Sonata as i40 in India

After the huge success of Hyundai i10 and Hyundai i20, Hyundai Motors India Limited now planning to launch Hyundai i40 in Indian market from its global product line-up.

It is expected that the new Hyundai Sonata might be re-christened as Hyundai i40 and the existing Hyundai Sonata will be replaced by the Hyundai i40 model.

Hyundai has successfully launched its i-series models - Hyundai i10 and Hyundai i20 and now company is planning to weighten its option with the launch of Hyundai i30 and Hyundai i40 in Indian market.

As the Hyundai has not officially announced about the launch of Hyundai i30 and Hyundai i40 thus it is difficult to say about the exact pricing and the technical details of the final models.

But it is also expected that Hyundai i40 may be replaced as the updated version of its existing sedan model. Hyundai intends to place its new models with the “value for money” proposition and it is planning to launch the new model with a 2.0L CRDi diesel engine.

The company officials indicate that The Hyundai i40 will be manufactured on all new platform that will underpin of the other future models of Hyundai Motors and Kia Motors, with the recently launched 2.0L CRDi diesel engine that produces 181bhp of maximum power that being a most popular power-plant from Hyundai's product portfolio.

After the launch the new Hyundai i40 will compete against Honda Accord, Toyota Camry, and Skoda Laura of this segment.
