Audi R8 V10 Spider Spotted during shooting of Iron Man II

Audi R8 V10 Spider

Feast your eyes on the first undisguised picture of the new Audi R8 Spider, shot and leaked onto the internet during the filming of Hollywood blockbuster Iron Man II.

The Audi R8 Spider will use a traditional fabric roof, rather than a targa panel, which should help save weight. It is expected to tuck away between the seats and engine.

Other changes from the standard car include the R8 Spider's engine cover being redesigned and the fuel filler cap being moved from the B-pillar to the rear quarter panel to allow for the drop-top arrangement.

However, the standard R8's 4.2-litre V8 with 414bhp is expected to remain unchanged for the convertible. Its performance figures will be very similar to the R8 coupe's too, so expect a 0-62mph time of around four seconds and a top speed of 180mph.

The photo leaked on to the internet when car dealer Stafford Audi used it as part of a classified advert on pistonheads.com, which estimated the Audi R8 Spider's price at £105k.
