Hyundai has launched the New Sonata (aka i40) in South Korea, its home market. The car will go on sale in Europe in 2010.
The upper mid-sizer adopts the latest “fluidic sculpture” design language from Hyundai and has coupe like flowing rooflines
Engine/Transmission
Under the hood, the i40/Sonata has a 2.0 Litre Theta II engine which delivers a maximum power of 165 ps and 202 nm of torque. ( A 2.4 Litre Theta II GDI engine equipped Sonata will be launched in January 2010 which will be Hyundai’s standard engine for the US market )
The engine is mated to a six-speed automatic transmission for improved performance and fuel efficiency.

Safety
The car comes with six-airbags for safety of the passengers
Price/Bookings
The i40’s price ranges from US $17,600 to US $21,450 (Korea) Hyundai has announced that it has already received booking numbers in excess of 10,000 for the new car.
