Bajaj launches the New Pulsar 220 DTSi “S”

Bajaj has launched the naked street fighter avatar of its premium model Pulsar 220 DTSi - the Pulsar 220 S.

Pulsar 220 S 2010 DTSi Bikini Fairing _ 2 Right _ Latest Bajaj Pulsar 220 Pics, Photos, Images Wallpapers Reviews Price Gallery Video News Info The only Major difference between the Standard Pulsar 220 DTSi 'F' and the S version is that it gets rid of the Quarter Fairing. It has the Standard Bikini Fairing (with tank scoops) which is present in all the versions of the Pulsar.

The Rear End of the bike remains same. The Pulsar 220 S even has the same exhaust chamber as the older Pulsar 220 DTSi.

Personally, we @GediJunction like the older version of the P220 with the quarter fairing because it lends the bike a distinct image. The bike is a major head-turner only because of its quarter fairing. Otherwise the P220 S and the P150 look almost just the same. Another thing worth noticing here is that, the bike does not have the Projector headlamps available in the Older P220 DTSi 'F'.

However, this could definitely help Bajaj in cutting down the cost of the new bike by about a couple of grand which would lend it amazing Value for Money!

According to some sources, the bike costs Rs 78K (Ex Showroom, Bangalore). We'll confirm this bit and post the update.

Pulsar 200cc modified into Yamaha R1 !

This story has been imported from BikeAdvice as it is.

Fusion is something that not always generates good results, I am Vidit Kalra, a student of Delhi University. I have always loved the sound of great exhausts, Its the Yamaha R1 that got me into this love. The fact was that couldn’t afford an R1 for now. But I never let go of the hope that I would own a unique machine someday and guess what, Here I am. I’ve customized my 2007 Pulsar 200 with an R15 fairing to make it look like no other.

Modified-Pulsar-200

The new 150 and 180 Pulsars have, in my opinion, taken away the uniqueness of the looks of the 200. I decided that it was about time that I made some drastic changes. I had a concept in mind that my bike should look unique and different. I did not want it to look like an R15, I simply wanted the new look which combines the best bits of the Pulsar’s with the best bits of the R.

And so I started. I installed a custom front and rear mudguard along with a custom number plate mount. Also installed a clip on handle bar and the obvious front fairing from the R15. I have to admit that it was not an easy job from day one. I had to spent about 8 to 10 hours a day for about 3 weeks at the workshop while the bike was being transformed to get the results just the way I wanted. The final cost of the whole operation came upto 35,000. My machine has run about 20,000 KM till date and I usually travel about 100Km’s a day to and from the college. After the entire modification the mileage has remained the same at about 40Km/L

I have felt a lot of changes when on the saddle, the most significant one being the increase in weight; I have also felt a decrease in pickup. The people at Castrol bike zone felt that it was purely psychological. I also managed to achieve a top speed of 121 after the modifications.

I truly love the new look with the awesome paint combination of black and wild green. It used to be red in the beginning but not anymore. The new colour combination reminds me of a dark forest filled with wild grass, which I think is truly awesome. BikeAdvice asked what my dream bike is, well, I had only one answer, my custom Pulsar….

Karizma or Pulsar 220 Dts Fi or Apache RTR ? CNBC Money Control Review Video

In this video the various experts from the automotive industry test out the Karizma, Pulsar 220 FI and the Apache on a proper Racing Track.

At the end of the test, each one of them have separate choices.

So, they agree to a race. Now in this race between these three bikes, the Karizma wins.

Now, personally, If I had to choose a bike between all of these (at the time when this test was conducted), I would also have chosen the Karizma. But I would do that only if the DTSi version of the Pulsar 220 had not been launched (without the FI).

Since Bajaj has launched the FI-less version of the Pulsar 220, and it is almost about the same price as Karizma, I’d have my money on the Pulsar 220, simply because of the additional features it has to offer at the same price. The pulsar 220 DTSi has -

  • Split Grab Rails
  • Comfortable Handle
  • Split Seat
  • Gas enhanced Suspension
  • Fatter Tyres
  • Projector Headlamps

So, if anyone wants to buy a bike in the 200+ cc catagory, Pulsar 220 DTSi is the best bet (=

S. Sridhar, CEO (two-wheelers), Bajaj Auto, said, “The carbureted version of the new Pulsar 220, which has been launched, offers higher power and better performance at a much lesser price. So, continuing with the Pulsar 200 was not possible, as it was priced in the similar range. We wanted to offer the buyers a better bike at an affordable rate.
